U3A Short CourseLooking at Art

with Peter Dean (peterdeano@hotmail.com) ph 0435 150 745
and Sue Caffin (suecaffin@hotmail.com) ph 0411 695 63
Tuesdays 11.00 - 1.00 from 23 July for 5 weeks in Banksia Room A
Over 5 weeks we will look at a variety of art and creative works and talk about the many aspects of visual language. We will use Audio Visual presentation with interactive commentary, looking at Painting, Sculpture, Architecture, Design and Colour. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and add to the discussion with their own insights and observations.

The first week Peter will talk about aspects of Design using many examples for illustration. In week two, Sue will talk about COLOUR... colour perception, language, colour wheels and a brief history of colour THEORY and how it affected Painting and the Art Movements of the twentieth century.

The subjects of the following weeks will be discussed over the course of weeks one and two.

All Art begins with an idea and an urge to manifest that idea in some form. Our idea is to generate discussion about Visual Art and ways to increase our understanding and therefore ENJOYMENT.
