Do you play a music instrument and would like to join together with others to play duets, trios etc? Possible combinations may include violin, guitar or woodwinds in small ensemble groupings. Repertoire will be mainly classically-based. This is an opportunity for you to bring along your own skills and join like-minded people to create music.

U3A Choir is a non-auditioning choir lead by Elizabeth Sandman and Yvonne Yaxley. We are a welcoming and supportive group that includes experienced singers and enthusiastic newcomers to choral music. We cover an interesting range of material and it is not necessary that you read music. Everyone is welcome to start the year, but as our program builds progressively through the year later enrolments will be restricted to those with previous choral experience. Singing has been shown to improve our sense of happiness and wellbeing. Research has found that singing in a choir can improve memory, build confidence, build connections and social bonding and reduce stress. So join us for your weekly high.

Time to de-stress and have fun dancing! Circle dance is folk dancing done in a circle formation. It includes traditional and contemporary dances from around the world. No experience is needed. The dances are all circle dances we have learnt from Amanda McKenna over seven years. Come and have a try. We will all learn together as we go.

This course has moved into a collaborative form of operation. Participants are asked to share responsibilities, skills and the organisation of activities. Members of the group are welcome to attend the whole session or part there of. Beginners and experienced crafters are all welcome. We endeavour to share friendship through our love of arts and crafts. All types of crafts are welcome. We aim to invite visiting artists as well as taking short trips to local exhibitions. For the first week bring along your current project and ideas.

A discussion group for book reading enthusiasts meeting monthly at Tranquilles to share our thoughts on a theme or topic one month, and reading and discussing a particular book the next. The books are selected at the beginning of the year from the extensive Library Book Group list. A commitment to attending and contributing is expected. Participants are able to enjoy a yummy morning tea provided by Tranquilles at a cost to be decided at the beginning of the year.

Mah Jong is a game that originated in China. It is commonly played by four players, but can be played with three, or even two, players. It is said to be similar to the Western card game rummy and is a game of skill, strategy and calculation, but with a degree of chance. Players often go to lunch afterwards to round off an enjoyable get together. New members with basic knowledge are welcome, as no tutoring is available.

Petanque is an outdoor game played by two opposing teams trying to throw metal boules as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet. The game is normally played on gravel/sand called a piste. Rules are simple and learned within minutes. It provides social stimulation, friendly fun and is an exhilarating challenge.

The members of the Port Sorell U3A photography group are interested in developing and sharing their skills as photographers. The group has grown from those who have attended the photography classes presented by Tony Harris since 2014. There are no specific equipment requirements but members of the group will typically have access to a DSLR or mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses, a tripod, and a computer with software to 

post-process their images. The group meets in the Banksia Centre where group members review their photos and share their knowledge on a wide range of photography and post processing topics. Occasionally, we will have guest speakers to talk on a range of photographic topics. Excursions are held every second week, instead of the classroom session. Participants will need to arrange their own transport to the excursion locations, howeve carpooling is encouraged.

Pickleball is a court based game with similar features of tennis and badminton. It is a fun based game suitable for all ages and can be played indoors or outdoors. It is a fast growing sport that offers opportunity to experience exercise combined with fun. It is currently played at the Banksia Centre on Tuesday mornings and hopefully will be offered on Thursday mornings at the same venue. The game is usually played with 4 players as doubles but for the more enthusiastic players singles can also be played though slightly different rules apply.

A game for the ages, pickleball is a blend of badminton and tennis played on a small court with divided net and with the undivided attention of participants. A great way to get mobile and make friends.

Enjoy the fun of making music in a group! The recorder, which enjoyed popularity in the 16th and 17th centuries is an oft maligned instrument. However it has a sweet and clear tone that is ideally suited to small chamber ensembles, using different sized instruments- soprano, treble, tenor and bass. Participants would preferably have some prior musical background in recorder and the ability to read music.

Come and join Thursday Cards 500. We play for fun and not for a "sheep station". Experience in playing 500 is required. Player numbers are arranged to ensure that all attendees are included. This may be tables of 3,4,6.

Approximately 1 hour walk each week. Everyone walks at their own pace. Walking for pleasure – company – fitness! Meet afterwards for a coffee – tea – refreshing juice. RAIN – HAIL or SHINE. A great bunch of people. The meeting place alternates between Brewstone Cafe and Rocky Gardens, with some walks outside the area.

Gentle aerobic exercises in a heated pool at Tudor Cabins, Appleby Road. Participants must be able to walk down steps with the use of a handrail and bring a pool noodle and drinking water. Class cost is $10 per session to cover hire of the pool.

A one hour session of slow flow yoga, suitable for mature participants. Instruction is delivered through a series of programs from online sources, including Crow Point Yoga. Participants need to bring a yoga mat, a water bottle and a yoga block and strap.
